SoMAX (Self-configured Organic Multiple Access) is a communication technology that achieves a full mesh-like coverage with an intelligent wire and wireless subscriber relay mechanism. It uniquely provides mobile voice, data, and video applications with coverage similar to 4G/LTE base stations and throughput similar to fiber ADSL and cable networks. Within SoMAX network coverage, users enjoy true mobility in highly dynamic network infrastructure: roaming across large coverage areas to increase capacity; delivering throughput at very low transmitting power; offering user synchronized download and upload experiences. The issue of "convergence" is an obvious factor affecting the telecommunications industry as of today. A traditional network often designs to provide one specific service, such as voice or data. However, new emerging technologies offer opportunities for previously separated or unrelated industries/businesses to compete in the same business sector. For example, the triple-play service, which includes the telephone, Internet, and Television service, can be provided by a cable company alone. The telephone company can offer Internet service. Video and telephone services are available via the Internet. Besides, end-users' demand and expectation for services to support mobility and seamless roaming are growing.
We generally accept that providing these services depends on a packet-based smart IP network platform. Besides, with limited spectrums available, many unknown frequencies and communication technologies need to be integrated to optimize the user experience on seamless coverage.
SoMAX has a unique ability to adopt any bandwidth, transmission, or code modulation technique and provide optimized results under various network conditions and available resources. For SoMAX deployment, we can use any radio technology and modulation/coding technologies such as 3G, 4G/LTE, fiber, and ADSL as the backhaul option(s) while the device is also SoMAX enabled. All data is divided into individual packets and send via any available Internet backhauls.
Once an adequate user base is established, after reaching the critical mass, many unrelated applications and enhancements as well as systems designed to provide smartphone and/or the Internet services that beyond the initial planning, can also be achieved by SoMAX technology: Additional applications: real-time tracking, monitoring, and positioning of enhanced performance of cellular networking technologies; inventory management, RFID system, and other intranet applications; distribution of monitoring systems, access, and network resources and functions. Besides, the technology used at SoMAX essentially delivers secure data transmission for further protection through encryption.
While SoMAX builds on the level of telecommunication base that is scalable, it also proves to be particularly well-suited to enhance the performance of future cellular deployment. SoMAX is considered to have not been finalized yet. In the original 3G standard of UMTS, its complementary technology is already sufficiently advanced.
